THE STORY
On March 20th, a group of industry recognized climate, energy, buildings and tech leaders, strategists and experts will collectively and individually discuss disruptions impacting the built environment, urban communities and energy infrastructure. And a future forward path of actions to speed up scalable and future readiness strategies and solutions for course-correcting the trajectory towards a more positive, net zero carbon, resilient and thriving future.

Tom Rand, PhD: Will set the stage on an enormously complex issue – the economics of climate change. As global fears over climate risk ratchet up alongside increasing turbulent weather systems, the private sector looks at last ready join the fight in earnest. Is that the case, or just more greenwashing? Rand’s forthright speaking style takes on the old canards of both left and right politics in a passionate call to arms on climate risk and covers a broad range of subjects – psychology, finance, policy, economics, technology and science. His talk articulates pragmatic ways to rewire the capitalist economy for the 21st century – a renewed “Climate Capitalism”- The Case for Climate Capitalism: Economic Solutions
Alec Hay & Shatha Qaqish-Clavering: With a focus on the energy transition, Alec and Shatha will discuss a big-picture overview of Industrial, Commercial & Institutional (IC&I) organizations’ operational transition to a low-carbon economy – including socio-economic, environmental, technology, systems and climate challenges and opportunities that need urgent action. The successful and necessary outcome includes mitigation, adaptation and resilience measures that typically cost less than chasing compliance across the enterprise.
