Pamela Snively
Pamela SnivelyChief Data & Trust Officer, TELUS

Pamela Snively is the Chief Data & Trust Officer at TELUS. She leads the team responsible for privacy, data and AI governance and data ethics, along with data management and a number of compliance functions. Pam approaches overall data governance through the lens of customer trust, leveraging TELUS’ Customer First principle to drive the organization’s commitment to privacy and data ethics.

Under Pam’s leadership, TELUS has significantly transformed its approach to transparency about its data handling practices. This has included a refresh of the TELUS Privacy Centre to include layered information on TELUS’ data management practices, as well as some best practices to help our customers protect their information.

She participates in a number of national and international think-tanks and governance bodies related to AI, privacy and data governance, including the Information Accountability Foundation and Privacy and Data Advisory Committee for the Canadian Marketing Association. She is also a founding member and Chair of Canada’s Business Privacy Group, which is focused on building trust in Canada’s digital ecosystem.

Pam is a frequent speaker on privacy and data ethics and she actively encourages other organizations to join her in her mission to earn and elevate consumer trust in our digital ecosystem.

Dr Cindy Gordon, ICD.D

She is well-recognized globally as a digital transformation leader bridging new ways of working, using the most advanced forms of AI, and leading technology innovations. Dr. Gordon and her AI team have been helping numerous Canadian and USA companies in diverse industries advance their AI solution programs and solve complex use cases. She has held senior executive or partnership roles at Accenture, XDLI, a venture capital fund, Xerox, Citicorp, and Nortel Networks.

Dr Gordon is equally active in the Not-for-Profit sector; a former National Chair for CATA for Women in Technology and Co-Chair of Smarter Cities. She currently sits on AI Advisory boards:  the AI Forum, The Forbes Business and Technology Board – The Arizona State University Campus, and The USA Artificial Institute (USAII) where she teaches an AI masters class to Board Directors and CEOs on AI Strategy, Governance, Ethics and Law.  Dr. Gordon is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the Digital CEO Innovator of the Year Award (Bonhill Award), and also the Governor’s General Award for Innovation and Community Leadership.

She is recognized by Onalytica as one of the top global AI thought leaders and is also a Forbes AI thought leader, with a regular column. She also teaches AI Strategy, AI Business Transformation, AI Ethics, and Law at USAII and George Brown College. She is the author of 14 books, including the AI Dilemma. 2024 she received an Honorary AI Doctorate Recognition from George Brown College.  Academically, she has a doctorate in complexity sciences, leveraging technology methods and integrative organizational design strategies to accelerate growth from the University of Toronto.

Alexander (Alec) Hay, PhD

Alec is a globally recognized leader in infrastructure risk, resilience and security planning. He is the founding principal of Southern Harbour Ltd, an independent risk advisory firm based in Toronto, and an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, where he teaches and researches infrastructure and community systems risk and post-disaster/conflict rehabilitation. He works with governments, international organizations, and multinationals to help decision-makers understand the risks they face in a rapidly changing world, as well as through-life equity protection and intelligent risk transfer. He has advanced risk-based assessment in insurance and has developed international guidance on commercial property resilience for the Building Owners and Managers Association.

Previously, he was the DIALOG Resilience & Security lead, before which he served 25 years as a British Royal Engineers officer delivering infrastructure and fortifications globally. He has a keen interest in developing young professional engineers as both a mentor and peer reviewer and on the Capacity Building Panel of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He serves on the certification board of Green Advantage, equipping construction trades with sustainable building skills, and more recently on the expert panel for the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) sustainable public-private partnership guidance document. He is a sought-after speaker and author.

Peter Love
Peter Love

Peter Love provides strategic and policy advice on energy issues with a focus on energy efficiency in the built environment. He currently serves on five boards and chair of four. In the past, he had leadership roles with energy efficiency advocacy organizations, for profit energy service companies and government agencies. He was on the founding board of RSI and served as its Chair in the past. After 12 years teaching university courses on energy efficiency policies and programs, he wrote and recently updated a free on-line textbook. Early in his career, he was with the team at Pollution Probe in 1972 that developed the 3 R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle. He is the proud father of 5 and has 5 grandchildren.

As Vice President of Social Impact at The Daniels Corporation (Daniels), Heela Omarkhail leads the company’s commitment to building inclusive communities. Bill is the Principal at Rowan Build, a Smart/Sustainable Real Estate Consultancy. Bill has extensive experience with Architects, Engineers and Constructors and is intimate in the design, construction and integration of IT and OT (Operational Technology) building platforms. Bill has been intimately involved with the progress of open data communication standards and converged Facility + IT (4 th Utility) Networks. Bill has deep knowledge in the areas of Strategy Development, Sustainability, Space Optimization, Training and the Delivery of The Employee Experience. Bill is an honors graduate of the Queens University Electrical Engineering Program and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with the American Energy
Engineers (AEE) Association. Bill resides in Ottawa “The Nations Capital”, Ontario, Canada.

Olivier Cappon
Olivier CapponExecutive Director, Enerva Energy Solutions Inc. and RSI Vice-Chair

Olivier is a connector and leader in Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization in Canada. As Executive Director of Enerva, a pan-Canadian program design and implementation firm working with governments and utilities to deliver outcome-based solutions, he and his team are at the confluence of efforts to ensure market transformation toward a low-carbon economy while driving energy conservation and cost-reduction initiatives. Olivier has also had a significant impact in developing capacity-building & workforce development programs, as well as expanding the visibility and perceived risk profile of deep energy retrofit financing programs for buildings.

His belief in the importance of reducing emissions from the built environment, which accounts for nearly 40% of emissions in Canada is at the centre of his work, which involves engaging both the public and private sectors to ensure Canada has the programs required to support its energy transition, needs, and decarbonization goals. As carbon reduction is all about collaboration and scale, Olivier is focused on implementation and cooperation across stakeholder groups.

Over his 15-year career, he has worked with organisations like the Canadian Institute for Energy Training, SOFIAC, UNEP and Canadian Standards Association on workforce development, retrofit financing, multilateral environmental agreements and the proliferation of the use of sustainability-related standards and codes by industry. During his time with the Canadian Institute for Energy Training (CIET), Olivier began to narrow his focus to energy efficiency, which is widely accepted to be one of the fastest, easiest, and most direct paths to decarbonization and climate change mitigation. In addition to this, Olivier has served as a facilitator and presenter on topics related to the overarching themes of energy efficiency engagement and building decarbonization strategies.

Chris Snider

Chris holds the role of Director of Compliance with the RSI board and has been an insurance risk engineer for large global insurance carriers for the past 25 years. Chris’ expertise is in resilience, including climate resilience, supply/value chain resilience and building resilience including mass timber.

Specific to buildings, Chris has coordinated large commercial accounts for insurance risk requirements and has conducted site specific insurance-based risk assessments for Property Damage, Business Interruption, Natural Hazards, General & Product Liability as well as Product Recall.  Since 2010, he mostly focuses on performing risk assessments in business resilience – Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Continuity Planning (BCP), Interdependency Analysis, Contingent Business Interruption (CBI) and Supply Chain Risk Analysis to name a few.

Over the years, Chris has helped several organizations navigate their property, liability and business resilience needs to improve their overall resilience and manage their insurance risk profile. Chris is dedicated to risk identification, risk avoidance and risk reduction through sound, logical, effective and cost-conscious risk improvement actions.
