Since co-founding Frontier Agri-Science in 2010, the company has become an agricultural biotechnology leader with an international focus and mandate to improve crop yields in key crops such as wheat, rice, soybean, alfalfa and canola.
Dr. Northey holds an M.Sc. & Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and has over 20 years research experience in industry, academia, and government. Frontier is currently working with Limagrain/Biogemma and BASF for two of its flagship technologies in abiotic stress and herbicide tolerance and has developed numerous collaborations with National Research Institutions and academic labs in 9 different countries.
His current focus is in the development of coordinated AI and machine learning platforms for the discovery of novel herbicides (out of an in-house generated database of over a billion compounds) that are highly specific to plants and possess no 'off-targets' that have the potential to be toxic to mammalian or human health.
